YOUTH SKILL CONTESTS
Junior Olympic Skills Competition
Interested in Basketball, Soccer, Tennis and/or Track & Field Competitions? Think you have what it takes to earn the Gold Medal? Get involved today with the Jr. Olympic Skills Competition—a FREE national grassroots skills competition that provides both, boys and girls ages 8 to 13, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in four (4) sports - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field.
You can participate in any or all of the individual sports and advance through three (3) levels of competition, including Local, Regional and the National Finals at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Each sport is scored individually and the boys and girls compete separately. Remember, you can only participate in one (1) Local Qualifying Event PER sport, or be disqualified.
Choose your sport(s) and keep practicing for your Local Qualifying Event and you could earn your way to the U.S. Olympic Training Center for the 2008 National Finals.
Basketball – Challenges you to score as many points as possible by making baskets from designated shooting areas and the free throw line.
Soccer – Challenges you to dribble and shoot accurately in the fastest time possible.
Tennis – Challenges you to serve a low-compression tennis ball and to continue to hit the ball against the wall and above the Net Line as many times as possible in a 30-second time period (Rapid Rally).
Track & Field – Challenges you in two (2) fundamental
skill events: The Sprint (50-meter dash) and The Jump
