Edward A. Karasek Park
Karasek Park is located at the southeast corner of Windsor and Kenilworth Avenue. It beautifies a location that previously served as a Laundromat, ice cream shop, and even a Ribbon Cuttingdry cleaners before a fire caused the property to be razed and sit vacant and unsightly for a number of years. The new park fulfills a long term goal of the City of Berwyn to create open land park space in the Historic Depot District commercial corridor.

See the photos here.

The Berwyn Park District entered into a 99 year lease agreement with the City of Berwyn to help develop, maintain, and manage the park site which offers a tranquil, passive environment for patrons and residents alike to rest, relax and enjoy a treat or meal while taking in this newly landscaped parcel of green space. As part of the partnership this parcel of land , which had contained underground leaking fuel tanks was remediate to remove the tanks and all contaminated soil. Clean soil and sod were then installed to provide for settling before the current development was undertaken.

Karasek Park exemplifies the commitment of the Berwyn Park District and City of Berwyn, through partnership, to consistently exceed the expectations of residents. As Karasek Park continues to grow, Where Park Meets City is embodied through its integration into the Historic Depot District.
